Abstract

methodology in its simplest from is a structured practice of methods and principles for doing something. A Project Management Office (PMO) is an organizational structure focused on enabling effective implementation of organizational strategy through portfolios, programs, and projects. Traditionally, PMOs have been tasked with developing methodologies for standardization, to ensure alignment with organizational strategies, help implement projects effectively and efficiently and smooth the cultural differences across departments, functions and time zones. The necessity of a PMO has often been coined with the need to minimize projects failure and enhance project chances of meeting their objectives, deliver on time, budget and scope. However, the future PMO will need to be innovative. Balancing projects constraints is more of an art than a structured approach, the emerging concept of the Internet of Things enabled by Big Data and analytics can help create use cases so that PMO’s mythologies are far beyond the traditional balance of project constraints, to that of innovation and ultimately to that of value.
