Technological developments in the aviation industry have always driven safety and efficiency forward. This development has included the field of Human Factors and the practice of Crew Resource Management (CRM). The question of the role of the human in the system of aviation has developed with the changing technology and other changing circumstance. Maintaining current levels of safety may require more of the same of what has been done in recent times or it may require new directions for understanding human performance. This presentation will explore the contribution of Human Factors and CRM to the advancement of safety in the industry but also highlight what can still be done to further improve the level of safety of today.
