IEEE Seminars on Future Technologies was launched today (10th of May, 2017), organized by IEEE UAE section and Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC). The partnership aims to bring great interaction and exchange of knowledge and experience between the participants. The one-day event that took place in The Meydan Hotel from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM covered all recent trends of technological innovations.

Dr. Marwan Al Zarooni, Director of the Information Services Department of DESC, delivered a welcoming speech that stressed on the center’s main objectives, which is to protect all the government and semi-government department’s information, telecommunications network and information systems in the Emirate of Dubai, as well as enhancing, through information systems or any other electronic means, the efficiency of information storage and exchange in all Government Entities in Dubai.

The seminar focused on five main topics from different IEEE distinguished speakers. Professor Raed Shubair from Khalifa University gave a talk on “5G for the 2020 smart city” that focused on the latest communication technology with 5G in building smart city.

For her part, Dr. Bushra Al Blooshi, Research and Innovation Manager from DESC, gave a lecture on the risks of cloud computing and how to penetrate critical data in cloud computing. She concluded with recommendations to overcome these risks.

Followed by Professor Khaled Salah, Senior IEEE member and Professor from Khalifa University, who focused Blockchain solutions for Internet of Things security.

The open source data center seminar was offered by Rawand Hamshari who is a virtualized cloud specialist in EMC. The seminar was closed by a talk from IEEE distinguished speaker, professor Sherif Sakr on Big Data 2.0 Processing Engines.

The seminar was concluded by honoring keynote speakers and distributing souvenirs.
