The IEEE Student Chapter of Amity University, Dubai, had an event on Wednesday, 19^th of April, 2017. Bilal Shabandari, Secretary of the Amytech Committee, established the foundation of this event by explaining the urgency of learning new innovations and upcoming technologies to have an upper hand over this fast-paced and competitive world. He also explained the necessity of acquiring state-of-the-art skills, regardless of their relation with one’s field, to boast an impressive dexterity and efficiency.

The fundamental aim for holding this event was to let students of different branches more aware of the technical world and its advancements in modern society. All the members of the AmyTech committee were present, including Mr. Ved P Mishra, Chairperson – IEEE Student Chapter at Amity University Dubai and Dr. Maninder J Kaur, member of the IEEE UAE section, and mentors for the workshop. Since the event wasn’t branch restricted, the turnover was massive and the hall was lively and action-packed.

The Electronics and Telecommunication Department along with the Computer Science Department worked hard and the student members from both departments proffered their services to make this event a success.

The event was a workshop related to Photoshop-an extremely powerful application used for photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. Bilal Shabandari, from the E&T Department, was the host for the workshop, and together with Charlene Vas, President of the Amytech Committee, organized the event.

The event was initiated by Bilal Shabandari, organizer and host, giving an overview of the need to achieve more and learn more. He also gave a gist of Photoshop before he began going into technological details. The first step was the installation of Photoshop. Since many attendees were of non-technical branches, the student volunteers of the Amytech Committee assisted them with the installation process.

Once the software was accessible to everyone, Bilal started explaining the image editing software, Photoshop, in a detailed manner, stressing the importance of it and describing each and every necessary tool of the software alongwith a practical use session. It was followed by a final test to observe if the participants had understood everything and could implement it with no difficulties.
