The College of Engineering in Al Ain University of Science and Technology (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Campuses), organized a workshop entitled “Queueing Theory and its Applications”, in conjunction with the IEEE UAE Section, IEEE UAE MTT & IM Joint Chapter and the IEEE AAU Student Branch. The workshop was presented by Prof. Mohan Chaudhry, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (Royal Military College – Canada), under the supervision of Dr. Nazih Khaddaj Mallat –Dean of the College of Engineering, and in the presence of Prof. Ghaleb El Refae –AAU President, Prof. Abdelhafid Belarbi –AAU Vice President (Al Ain Campus), and the “College of Engineering” and the “College of Business” staffs and students.

Prof. Mohan started the workshop by defining the “Queueing Theory” concept as: sequence of customers and/or goods lined to be served or processed, for instance, in banks, hospitals, airports, manufacturing systems and telecommunications. He added that the objective of the study of queueing theory is to eliminate waste of time, money and materials and to trace the history of queueing theory and its usefulness in the fields of engineering, business, and management.
