The aim of this meeting is to discuss the progress of the Young Professionals Affinity Group tasks and plans until the end of the year 2018 and to set up an initial plan for 2019. At this meeting which was attended by Dr. Tushar Sharma, the founder and chairperson of Young Professionals in Space, we discussed the main aspects of hosting the YPinSpace event in Dubai in 2019. Accordingly, we agreed upon the venue, dates and the number of participants. The final technical program should be ready by the end of December 2018. A meeting was held between GRSS members, MBRSC lab, and ESRI team at Dubai University on November 22, 2018. The objective of this meeting is to discuss modern techniques and various applications using satellite images to extract information such as building detection. A demonstration was shown using sample images to view the detected buildings. A tour was conducted to show MBRSC lab and their current projects. The social event took place at Mleiha Archaeological Centre at Sharjah on November 21, 2018. The purpose of the event is to observe deep sky objects, such as the Moon, planets (Mars and Saturn) using a telescope with an expert. In addition, the outing included an off-road drive on the sand dunes to catch the sunset and a BBQ dinner under the stars. Location: Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

The 2018 IEEE Data Science Workshop is a new workshop that aims to bring together researchers in academia and industry to share the most recent and exciting advances in data science theory and applications. After the Annual General Meeting of IEEE UAE Section IEEE WIE Members gathered and discussed WIE ILS UAE 2019. Dr. Boutheina is the chair of the summit and togather with the committee members and a number of professional WIE members agreed to propose the date of the summit on 2nd week october 2019 for two days Saturday and Sunday.  The deadline for submitting the proposal is on 15th Dec. 2018. A meeting discussing the collaboration between the Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) and the Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) at Sharjah University Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The site, wherever it is located, is at the intersection of several flow systems that occupy different levels above and below the surface. These levels are upper tier (air flow), middle tier (landscape) and lower tier (soil, bedrock, groundwater). The inclusion of the 3rd dimension (depth, height) is of an important concern for all of these levels. For example, 3D is found of great value in many applications such as planning and landscaping, roads, canals, dams, building construction and simulation of air and water pollution. This presentation addresses the techniques that are used for 3D geospatial data collection and how to add value to 3D maps.
